MIRA COSTA HIGH SCHOOL - HOME OF THE MUSTANGS!
Cam Green grew up in Manhattan Beach; he attended Mira Costa High School and played on the Mustang’s CIF Championship team in 1990. In 1992 he was first team All-CIF, Ocean League MVP, and named to Volleyball Magazine’s Fab 50. He went on to play for the CSUN Matadors, leading them to the Mountain Pacific sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament title and NCAA runner-up in 1993.
From 2001 to 2008 he coached on the AVP and FIVB tours with players including Nancy Mason Reynolds, Jennifer Kessey, Rachel Wacholder, Tyra Turner, and Riley and Madison McKibben. Cam also worked with Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May Treanor. He was part of the USC Men’s Volleyball coaching staff for seven years. During those years the Trojans made it to the NCAA Final Four three times, including twice as runner-up in 2009 and 2012. In 2016 and 2017 Cam assisted with the team at Long Beach State where they finished third in the NCAA tournament both years. Cam took on his current role as head coach of the Mira Costa High School girls indoor volleyball program in 2018.
He has coached club volleyball teams for the last 28 years, achieving four Open Division National Championships, as well as numerous top five finishes in both boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Cam’s coaching philosophy has three components. First, his focus is on competition, learning to truly compete on and off the court. Athletes sometimes are not equipped with the tools and need to be taught how to deal with the pressures of competition. These lessons carry with them throughout their lives. Secondly, open and honest communication is key to a team’s success. The players need to understand not only what to do but why. Lastly, a coach must find what motivates the individual players; not everyone responds to the same motivation.
Nancy Mason Reynolds re-joined the girls indoor volleyball program with Cam Green in 2018 when she also became the Head Coach of Mira Costa's girls beach volleyball program. The Mira Costa girls beach volleyball team has won 3 CIF championships since beach volleyball became a CIF sport in 2021.
Nancy has coached numerous AVP and FIVB top teams/players, including 3-time Olympic medalist April Ross, Olympian-Nicole Branagh, Angie Akers, Whitney Pavlik, Jenny Kropp, Geena Urango and Angela Bensed. Prior to coaching, Nancy enjoyed a long and accomplished career on the AVP and FIVB Tours where she piled up over 30 top four finishes and several international medals. Nancy and Carrie Dodd were the alternates for the 2004 USA Olympic Team.
Before her beach career, Nancy was a four-year starter at Indiana University where she was an All -Big Ten Scholar-Athlete and is still among the career leaders in digs and blocks. Nancy played for Belleville West High School and appeared in the State Finals every year of her varsity career.
Coach Nicole is proud to be a part of the coaching staff with Mira Costa Volleyball. She has led the JV team to six very successful seasons. They’ve been champions of the Lakewood Tournament (2018, 2022), won the Dave Mohs Tournament four times (2019, 2021, 2022 & 2024) and are three-peat champions of the Redondo/Costa Molten Tournament (2022, 2023 & 2024).
She is from Fort Wayne, IN and played her indoor college career (‘99-‘03) at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). She began as a defensive specialist and transitioned to libero when that rule change went into effect in 2002. While at IPFW, Nicole was an integral part of the volleyball program when they transitioned from Div.II to a Div.I competitor. With 16 years of club coaching experience, SCVC has proudly been her home base as a club coach for the past 8 seasons coaching many different levels from 13’s to 18’s. Coach Nicole is also a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and has developed strategies that will help the players learn about and focus on some of the non-physical aspects that are important to high level performance such as sleep, nutrition, mindfulness/breath awareness, self-compassion and growth mindset. She will help guide and empower each of the players to develop healthy practices that will benefit them on and off the court. She lives in Redondo Beach with her husband, Jeremy Roueche (DJ for the Lakers and the AVP).
Keegan Felix (Featherstone) is back again as the Frosh/Soph Head Coach. Her Mustang career began in 1998 as the Frosh/Soph Co-Captain and MVP, then again in 1999 as she led the JV team as Co-Captain and MVP, and finished in 2001 as a Co-Captain of the Varsity squad earning “Back to Back” CIF Championships (2000 and 2001), Bay League Championships (2000 and 2001), and Southern Section Championship Runner up in 2001. She continued her volleyball career at UC Irvine, starting as a walk on and earning a scholarship and starting position after her first season as an Anteater. Following her collegiate career, she competed on the AVP tour and was one of two American teams chosen to compete in the World University Games in 2008 in Hamburg, Germany. Partnered with former Olympian, Lauren Fendrick, the duo placed 13th overall in this international tournament.
Keegan proudly followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming a coach and teacher after retiring as a player. A former Mustang alumn himself, Coach John Featherstone was Keegan’s biggest cheerleader, supporter, and mentor throughout her playing and coaching careers.
In 2007, Keegan returned to Costa as the Frosh/Soph coach for three more seasons, helping the squad win three consecutive Bay League Championships.
From 2010-2016, her SCVC 13Quiksilver boys club teams finished as the top 13U team in Southern California, with a Silver medal at Nationals in 2011 and a Bronze medal at Nationals in 2015. Her teams have since earned a Silver medal at Nationals in 2016, a Bronze in 2022, and another Bronze in 2023.
As the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Bishop Montgomery High School from 2013-2017, Keegan’s team had an undefeated league season in 2014, were Del Rey League Champions in 2014 and 2015, and took a 3rd place finish at the Nfinity SoCal Classic in 2014.
